17 women leaders shaping Mongolia’s mining today

In Mongolia’s male-dominated mining sector, women leaders have been emerging strongly in recent years. This series of profiles is intended to inspire girls and young women, highlight career opportunities in the industry, and help transform entrenched stereotypes. The achievements of these women serve as role models, showing girls and women the importance of confidence in their professions,

the possibility of success even in a challenging industry, and the wonder of discovering and developing their own potential. “Mining Insight” magazine is proud to become a meeting point of inspiration by telling the stories of these women whose innovation, leadership, and determination offer valuable lessons, and by supporting gender equality in Mongolia’s mining sector. The first guest in the series was S.Enkhtuya, a respected figure in the industry known as the first woman to directly manage a mine and who served with distinction as CEO of Monpolymet Group. The second guest was G.Erdenetuya, the first woman to become CEO of the Mongolian National Mining Association (MNMA). We will continue to feature our guests in the “Women CEO’s in Mining” column, ranking them in order of the length of their tenure as executives. We are also pleased that this project is being supported by and partnered with the MNMA. Together, we will organize one of the most distinctive and special events of “Mining Week” a gathering of women executives in the mining sector. This meeting will take place on September 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the foot of Taij Kharhan. Through this event, we aim to highlight the fresh face of the sector and the leadership of women executives, and we are honored to extend invitations through the pages of our magazine to the 17 women leaders of Mongolia’s mining industry.
