The Board of the Mongolian National Mining Association (MNMA) convened today (July 6, 2026). At the meeting, MNMA Board Chairman G. Battsengel stepped down at his own request, and Board member Z. Gan-Ochir was elected as the new Chairman of the Board.
In addition, Z. Gan-Ochir will serve as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the MNMA until further notice.
Z. Gan-Ochir currently serves as Managing Director and CEO of Azzuro Resources PLC, a company engaged in copper, lithium and nickel exploration in Mongolia.
He holds a degree in Mining Engineering from both the Haileybury School of Mines in Canada and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and a Master's degree in Finance from New York University, Stern School of Business. He is a mining engineer and finance professional.
Gan-Ochir began his career as a mine surveyor at Canada's Nanisivik underground zinc mine and has since held technical and senior management positions at both domestic and international mining companies, including Asia Gold, Khukh Tengeriin Minerals and Aspire Mining.
He also previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Oyu Tolgoi LLC, representing Erdenes Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
