Mongolian President U. Khurelsukh visited the Oyu Tolgoi mine

Mongolian President U. Khurelsukh, accompanied by government officials and Members of Parliament, visited the Oyu Tolgoi mine, where he was welcomed by Rio Tinto CEO Jakob Stausholm and senior leaders, who provided updates on the mine's operations and ongoing development.

By 2025, mine production will increase by 50 percent from the previous year, with copper concentrate production growing rapidly, and the company is on track to produce an average of 500,000 tonnes of copper (100% pure metal) per year from underground and open pit mines over the next four years. This will make Oyu Tolgoi the world's fourth largest copper mine by the end of this decade.

As a cornerstone of Mongolia’s economy, Oyu Tolgoi is on a steady path to becoming one of the world’s leading copper mines. The underground expansion is progressing successfully, incorporating advanced technology, sustainable practices, and environmental initiatives.

During his visit, President U. Khurelsukh stated, "I take great pride in the 20,000 Mongolian people who are tirelessly working to transform the natural resources of Oyu Tolgoi into national wealth and prosperity. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the foreign specialists who are sharing their expertise and working shoulder to shoulder with Mongolians".
