Minerals of tomorrow

The first issue of Mining Insight, titled Future Minerals, was published in December 2021. Topics such as climate change, energy transition, efforts towards green recovery, advancements in technology and artificial intelligence, the new demand for raw materials, and critical minerals, along with the transformations they bring, will always hold a significant place on the cover of Mining Insight. We aim to witness every such transformation and maintain an open platform for discussion, we defined our mission and purpose in the editorial four years ago. Staying true to this original mission, we have continuously expanded our media partnerships with international conferences and broadened our information exchange to keep our readers informed with fresh and up-to-date insights about the mining industry. Since establishing a media partnership with the organizing committee of PDAC, the largest event in the mining sector, during our coverage in 2022, Mining Insight has collaborated with them annually.

Over the years, we have served as an official media partner for key industry events such as the Raw Materials Summit in Europe, the Digitalization in Mining conferences held in the European Union and Australia, the World Resources Forum, and The Magnetics Show, one of the largest events organized by Select Global Events. Through these partnerships, our team has diligently delivered key insights from international conferences on mining, investment, and critical raw materials to Mongolia’s mining sector. Mining Insight launches its first issue of 2025 with exciting news about new partnerships established with the Future Minerals Forum in Saudi Arabia and the Critical Raw Materials Summit in Indonesia. We are pleased to expand our media collaborations into the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The summit in Jakarta, scheduled for June 3-5, 2025, will gather over 2,000 experts from more than 60 countries to discuss key issues in Southeast Asia’s mining sector. We will cover special sessions on Nickel and Cobalt, Aluminum, Tin, and Coal, providing in-depth reporting on each. As for the Future Minerals Forum, Saudi Arabia first organized this conference in January 2022 to explore sustainable and responsible solutions for the future supply of mineral resources. At that time, only one mining expert from Mongolia participated. Now, with the organizers granting Mining Insight exclusive media access, our team has successfully covered the fourth edition of the Future Minerals Forum 2025. In addition to our reporting, a large contingent of Mongolian journalists also covered the event. Under the Capacity Building Program for Journalists in Mining and Economics, eight editorial teams attended the forum, gaining valuable experience and insights from this international platform. This program is implemented by the Mongolian Council for Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility with support from Oyu Tolgoi. Rio Tinto Mongolia also contributed to the coverage of the Future Minerals Forum. We are living in an incredibly dynamic era for the mining industry. Just as the global energy map is being redrawn, so too is the map of mining reshaped. Nations are engaging in serious discussions about where and how they will position themselves within this new landscape.

The current state of mining is unlikely to meet the global demand over the next 20-30 years, prompting governments, major corporations, and investors to strategize on overcoming this challenge. Never before has the issue of meeting the growing demand for mining resources been so pressing. And never before have so many stakeholders come together to find solutions. In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 18,000 participants gathered to discuss the way forward. Mining Insight presents a special section with on-the-ground coverage from the forum, sharing diverse perspectives and voices on the trends that will shape the future. We look forward to following up with a special report in January next year, examining how the ideas and solutions discussed have been implemented.
